YOKOHAMA TIRE – YK580 LAUNCH EVENT

Discount Tire Company and Yokohama Tire teamed up for the production and exclusive sale of the YK580 touring tire. A high-volume seller with numerous sizes and fitments for almost all cars on the road, the YK580 had the potential to be a huge seller. We were called in to support the two dealer launch events - one at the racetrack Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI and the other at Homestead-Miami in Miami, FL.

A launch event of grand scale, the YK580 kick-off involved track rental, event activation, staffing, logistics, and bringing in numerous regional managers from Discount Tire stores for training and first-hand experience. Attendees would be driving the tire through a series of fun and exciting tests over wet and dry pavement. Professional racecar drivers were also brought in to show the tire's prowess and to coach the store managers. After mock sales meetings and a full day of driving, attendees were brought back home and the event staff readied for the next wave.

Content assets were provided to Discount Tire and Yokohama Tire for internal use and sales training. The end result was a launch event that brought big attention to Yokohama Tire's YK580 product and garnered brand recognition amongst the front line sales force.

GREDDY – BEHIND THE BUILD

We went on a 4-month long covert mission inside GReddy Performance Products' HQ to shoot the build-up of the first Scion FR-S racecar in the US. The end result was a 5-min piece covering the work and progress that went into the project. Held together by personal interviews with driver Ken Gushi and team manager Kenji Sumino, the project took a personal "in the team" approach to the build, using the team's thoughts and hopes to put the car into perspective.

By putting a face on the project build and personality behind the work, Scion Racing received organic, human marketing exposure for the FR-S beyond a simple documentary style.

DRIVEN TO DRIFT SEASON 4 – LONG BEACH

The 2012 Formula Drift season brought Scion Racing and Clockwork Media back for production of the fourth season of the Driven To Drift webisode + DVD series. Expanding both on the team and production fronts, Driven To Drift has grown to encompass three camps - Papadakis Racing, GReddy Performance, and Tangelo Racing. Already a heavy fan favorite, the series would see a dramatic increase in both production logistics and visibility with the change in team content and the arrival of the highly anticipated Scion FR-S. With Scion marketing efforts positioned to promote the brand new FR-S, without forgetting the volume selling Scion tC, attention had to be paid to the balance of on-air time between the drivers.

In order to cover our bases, the team at Clockwork Media would monitor all three teams constantly using four HD cameras, up to 15 in/on-car cameras, three interview setups, radio contacts, and a tight shooting schedule with positions down to the minute. Episode 1 Long Beach was shot on the RED Scarlet 4K digital cinema camera with editing and post-production handled in-house.

MAXXIS TIRES – BMW M3 UNLEASHED

For the launch of their first-ever RC-1 racing tire, Maxxis Tires asked us to put together a turnkey content campaign that would highlight the capability and excitement found in real racetrack use. We then teamed up with amateur racing crew Team SCTS and their new BMW M3 sedan racecar. The first ever V8-powered M3 racecar in the BMWCCA's club racing ranks, the Maxxis M3 was a perfect fit to center a video series around.

Seeking to display more organic marketing than a simple presentation piece, Maxxis worked with us to develop a human-driven story hooked around the members of the team. With full-time jobs and an abundance of enthusiasm, the members of Team SCTS were the model end consumer - relatable and competitive. With the focus turned towards the people behind the tires, Maxxis and the RC-1 were given a campaign that spoke to consumers and displayed its real world usage.

Becoming one of the most popular Maxxis Tires content programs (by viewership), the BMW M3 RC-1 campaign brought in numerous static subscribers, views, and placed media embeds.

100 ACRE WOOD RALLY 2012

The 2012 rally season continued into MO for the Sparco Scion Rally xD team and we were once again along for the documentation. Shifting focus this time around towards Team Manager Philip Chase, our video delved into more of the "behind the scenes" of the running of a successful rally racing team. More than just a fast driver and a few bolts, a racing team is made up of organization, work, logistics, and planning. Combine that with long transport days, miles of open forest, harsh weather conditions, and you're looking at one of the toughest racing series in the USA. We like.

SCION FR-S AT LAGUNA SECA

The Scion FR-S is one of the most highly anticipated cars (as of Mar 2012) to arrive this year and the 600hp racing version even more so. With driver Ken Gushi behind the wheel, the new GReddy GPP/Scion Racing FR-S seeks to take its place in the 2012 Formula Drift championship records. Literal legions of Toyota, AE86, FT-86, GT-86, BRZ, and FR-S fans will look towards the racing car as the pinnacle of tuning inspiration. Can't let them down, right?

Needless to say, the FR-S' debut needed something epic. After two days of private rental at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA, we emerged with the first drifting action footage of the GReddy/Scion FR-S. It looked good, real good, smoky good.

Using a 20-ft jib crane, our custom camera car rig mount, pristine Zeiss glass, and Sony's F3L Cine Alta digital cinema camera, we came away with some great footage of an already good looking car. Shot for the Detroit Auto Show press conference unveil (SEE HERE), this footage was re-packaged and edited into a longer, more complete cut as seen below. Conceptualized, scripted, shot, produced, and edited in-house at Clockwork Media.

SNO DRIFT RALLY 2012

An icy cold Michigan winter played host to the 2012 Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, MI and we were there every step of the way with the Sparco Scion Rally xD team. Focusing this time on driver Andrew Comrie-Picard, our video goes into the harsh conditions faced and some of the challenges of competing in a snow rally - the only one on the USA calender. Solid teamwork, experience from 2011, and some pre-event prep work at rally HQ helped the Sparco crew come out with a hard fought 2nd place finish. Two blizzards, some frozen cameras, and a bunch of elk meat later, we're happy to bring a glimpse of the 2012 Sno*Drift rally.

SEMA SHOW 2011

The annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada is an oversized ritual for the enthusiast car industry. Inside the not-for-the-public trade show is everything under the sun for modifying cars and trucks. Tailpipe flame throwers? Check. 1,600HP display cars? Got it. Booth babes? For sure. The three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center are literally bursting at the seams with shiny and go-fast products for people into custom cars.

And as a company who has built its reputation on customization, Scion always has a solid presence at the show. 2011 was no different. Three customized iQs were entered in the Tuner Challenge with $10,000 / $7,000 / $5,000 prize purses at stake. Our task was to produce a short video project covering the thought process and endless nights of the three builders: Jon Sibal, Mike Chang from Evasive Motorsports, and Tatsu Tsuchida.

Included in the Road To SEMA video, as well as featured in their own short videos, were Jeremy Lookofsky from Drag Cartel and Mike West from 686. Respectively, they built the Pit Boss Scion iQ and Numberic Scion xB - both pretty cool cars. All animated openings and lower-third titles were produced by Clockwork Media.

FR-S – DETROIT AUTO SHOW

The 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, MI played host to the public reveal of the GReddy/Scion drift racing FR-S. Built for the 2012 Formula Drift season, the racecar was conceived, assembled, and tested behind closed doors. Top secret stuff. Remember, the first rule of FR-S is "you don't talk about FR-S".

With the production Scion FR-S already causing a storm of e-thug discussion on the Interwebs, it was important that the racing version also enjoy its time in the spotlight. After two days at the track with the GReddy Scion FR-S and a production Scion FR-S, we came back with a load of action-packed footage. Cut together by the team at O2 Studios, our GReddy Scion FR-S cut made its debut during Jack Hollis' press presentation at the NAIAS. A separate, longer cut was put together by the team here at Clockwork Media to further showcase the GReddy Scion FR-S.
